I have just finished illustrating a guide to 'How to Make the Most of Your Time' for the Guardian. Produced in conjunction with The School of Life, the guide delivers provocative ideas and practical tips from members of their faculty including: David Baker, Alain de Botton, Tom Chatfield, Ed Halliwell, Cathy Haynes, Roman Krznaric, Jon Turney and Mark Vernon. And it's FREE with The Guardian newspaper this Saturday 28 January 2012.

Laydeez do Comics

In December I gave a short talk at Laydeez do Comics. I'm not really a comic creator I just dabble a bit. I talked about design, drawing and doing a bit of comic stuff. The picture above is from a story I am working on called Spy and I hope to finish in my lifetime. Nicola is the author of the recently published graphic novel Billy, Me and You, which is a brilliant account of death, bereavement and recovery. I know it's hard to imagine but it's also funny.

IFO at King's Cross

I have been working with Michael Pinsky and Stephanie Delcroix on the publicity and print for Relay a programme of public art commissions in King's Cross. Last night saw the installation of IFO (Identified Flying Object) by French architect Jacques Rival. The giant bird cage will be lifted to various and unexpected locations around the site over the next two years.

Last month saw the opening of firstsite in Colchester. I have updated firstsite's new monthly listings brochure to incorporate more information, images and events in time for the new gallery opening.

It has been a real pleasure to be able to work on the update of the identity for Conway Hall.

This historic building in Red Lion Square, London is a renowned hub for free speech and progressive thought. Home of the South Place Ethical Society and The Humanist Reference Library it is also a venue for events and music. The lettering for new logotype is based on type from one of original signs on the exterior of the building and new style features other architectural details and images.

This was completed before Christmas, packaging for Archie Foal's very lovely wool and cashmere socks. Paper garter wrap (above), swing tag, sock wrap and a bright red box all featuring the Archie Foal logo in bronze foil. The socks look really good on too!

Pallet Project with studiomama

Working with Nina Tolstrup at studiomama to produce a limited edition pack accompanying Pallet Project currently on show at the Phillips de Pury room in the Saatchi Gallery. We screenprinted a greyboard folder which contains a booklet about the project and a set of 3 large blueprint style plans for 4 different pieces of her DIY pallet furniture. Working with Haring Woods Associates on WHAT WILL BE at the COP16 event in Cancun, Mexico. We produced a catalogue, posters and invitations all reflecting the Mexican location. This is the second Safe Planet outreach campaign in the arts, and features films, photographs, videos, and installation art. Participating artists include: Marcela Armas (Mexico), Jason deCaires Taylor (UK/Mexico), Gilberto Esparza (Mexico), Gideon Mendel (South Africa/UK) and Chris Jordan (USA).

Luna Park at firstsite

Luna Park a life size sculpture of an Ultrasaurus by artists Heather & Ivan Morison, was to be installed in Colchester's Castle Park. Unfortunately it burnt down in Portsmouth, so rather than the happy amusement park style publication on the left, it is now a more sombre leaflet showing the very sad (but interesting) burnt remains.

Exhibition graphics and card for ArC Suitcases – a set of interactive artworks aimed at primary schools. The suitcases are a creative and fun way to explore the idea of citizenship. Following the suitcase theme the card is suitcase shaped and the gallery boards are based on luggage tags which hang on the wall.

I was this month's guest blogger at Laydeez do Comics This month Phillipa Perry, author, psychoanalyst and wife of Grayson Perry talked about her graphic novel Couch Fiction. Other speakers included Ian Williams creator of the excellent Graphic Medicine and Columba Quigley.

LDC is a graphic novel reading group or forum with a focus on comic works based on life narrative, the drama of the domestic and the everyday, set up by illustrator Nicola Streeten and artist Sarah Lightman. As well as selecting favourite works to base discussion on, artists, academics and fans are invited to speak. LDC is also platform for people to test new works and ideas or works in progress.
